Bizarre: “religion” info on Canadian politicians erased from Wikipedia

Don’t look at me…

A small handful of anonymous internet users have made an editorial decision, leading to the deletion of key information about Canada’s past on one of the world’s most frequented websites. To make matters worse, they have done so based on spurious logic that the religious views of politicians have never been at the centre of Canadian political discourse. Only recently, Paul Martin’s Catholic faith and that of Joe Clark have come up within the context of the gay rights and the same-sex marriage debate. But apparently information on church affiliation has no place in Wikipedia “infoboxes.”

It was my contentment coming across your site a short while ago. I got here now hoping to get new things. I was not frustrated. Your ideas on new strategies on this area were insightful and an excellent help to me. Thank you for creating time to write out these things plus for sharing your thinking.

  2. I saw one thing else about this on yet another web site internet site.Incredibly, your linear perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read just before. I’m still seeking to figure out over the opposite points of view, but I’m tipped strongly toward your level of view. And in any case, that’s what’s so splendid about contemporary democracy as well as the marketplace of thoughts on-line. http://www.blurty.com/view/?type=month&user=kevitovgbo
