“I read a few days ago that the Quebec government wants to modify article 28 of Quebec charter. Equality between men and women will take precedence over religious rights. Ostensibly it’s an anti-hijab measure because an employer would be able to discriminate against a woman who wears a hijab because men don’t have the ‘same’ right.
“Unfortunately, given the Charter’s general economy, some troublemaker (subsidized by the government) will use article 28 to force the Catholic (and maybe the Orthodox) church to admit women to the priesthood. Of course the church will refuse to implement such an order with the resulting scandal of the institution being held in contempt.
“Another islamonausea moment: islam regress social advances and poisons society,” writes Xavier.
