“The moderate politics and gradual changes that Flanagan considers crucial to holding power are, in Nicholls’ eyes, no better than ‘Liberal-lite.’ If the conservative movement and its activists, think tanks and networks change the national dialogue, and win the war of ideas, political parties will of necessity shift right to win votes.
