You could not, as they say, make it up. The United Church has elected a new moderator and according to the press release the lady in question, Mardi Tindal, “tweets, she’s green, she’s media savvy, she’s animated.”
The last epithet appears to mean that she’s a cartoon if her opening statement is any indication. She says, “for me the word ‘faith’ is part of a new paradigm. The word ‘belief’ sounds too static, where in fact in faith we are invited to participate relationally … belief is a noun and faith is a verb.”
Sorry to be a pedantic old thing but I think you’ll find that both words are nouns, even in the lexicon of the increasingly crazy United Church. (…)
Behind the smiles and the hugs is a nasty, exclusive ideology that speaks of tolerance and love but is in fact rigid and harsh.
There is a noun to describe such a thing but I’m too polite to use it.
