Kudos to Mohammed Shouman of the University of Waterloo for continuing his campaign to fight the fascism of his fellow students.
Today he forwarded this email he sent to the Waterloo Police:
To Whom It May Concern at Waterloo Police:
I am writing to warn you about the publicized intentions of KW Anti-Racist Action to disrupt Ms. Christie Blatchford’s rescheduled speech on December 7.
In an online podcast that was uploaded on November 26, Dan Kellar—a PhD candidate and a principal organizer of the November 12 disruption—stated that, “We are proud are proud to have stopped this racist apologist from further disseminating her lies, and we firmly pledge to be present at the rescheduling of [Christie Blatchford’s speaking] event in order to continue our campaign against Christie.” (emphasis mine)
You can download the podcast at this link, The particular quote above can be heard at 01:02:16. I include other relevant references at the bottom of this e-mail message.
Ms. Ellen Réthoré, the vice president of Communications and Public Affairs, has stated that, “In my conversations with campus police, I think that we’ll have an appropriate level of security.” Thus, it is my sincere hope that you take the contents of this podcast into account as you assess the security level needed at Ms. Blatchford’s upcoming speech.
Furthermore, I hope that you consider taking preemptive action by banning Dan Kellar and his group from being present on campus. He has been unequivocal about his intent to harass Ms. Blatchford (which his euphemistically calls a “campaign” against her), and to prevent her from giving her speech.
To reiterate, Dan Kellar has publicly “firmly pledged” to stop Ms. Blatchford’s from speaking on December 7. This in itself ought to be sufficient reason to ban his group from campus on December 7.
Please don’t cave in to these bullies.
