Not all those linked to the Brotherhood are dangerous, however. The moderate Muslim Association of Canada (some of whose leadership I know, and consider modern and pluralist) freely admits its association with the Brotherhood. And Public Safety Canada does not list the Brotherhood as one of the extremist “entities” banned in this country.
My husband Arnie’s research turns up some interesting information about Warren Kinsella’s acquaintances at the Muslim Association of Canada, who subscribe to the beliefs of Hassan Albanna:
“MAC adopts and strives to implement Islam, as embodied in the Qur’an, and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as understood in its contemporary context by the late Imam, Hassan Albanna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MAC regards this ideology as the best representation of Islam as delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). “
“It is Fard (obligatory) on us to fight with our enemies. The Imam must send a military expedition to the Dar al-Harb (land of war) every year at least once or twice, and the people must support him in this.”
* Yasser Haddara is a MAC Board member. Here, (video) TVO’s Steve Paikin responds to Haddara’s position on the Everybody Draw Mohammed Day controversy: “We have to be careful about what we say!? Some would say that is not consistent with western democratic values…” (Then Tarek Fatah rips Haddara a new one.)
* Yasser Haddara on Gaza (video)
* While he is not linked to any wrongdoing whatsoever, Yasser Haddara is also a board Member of Hamilton’s “SISO” an immigration “services”, a group that just got defunded:
“SISO has been in turmoil since losing millions in government funding over concerns of financial irregularities. Its former executive director was charged with uttering death threats against staff and there is an ongoing investigation by Hamilton police and the RCMP into allegations of fraud against the government.”
* The Muslim Association of Canada publishes Muslim Youth Voice. Here’s one of the articles in its archives:
Many commentators and reporters affirm this is the worst massacre Gaza has been subjected to since the Israeli occupation in 1967. They have been besieged and starved for over three years and instead of receiving relief from the world, they are now being annihilated by the Israeli army that is supplied with American military technology. (…) As a feature article, we have selected an article from Dr. Tariq Ramadan highlighting the Muslims situation after the Gaza attacks.
