A restaurant chain’s “albino wings” promotion has left a bad taste in the mouths of two brothers with albinism who say it’s wrong and offensive.
A long time ago, Paul and Peter Ash quietly complained about Earls’ Albino Rhino Ale.
“Peter and I noticed it 19 years ago,” said Winnipeg businessman and philanthropist Paul Ash. (…)
Paul said they’ve learned to cope with visual impairment and sun sensitivity associated with albinism. They survived the taunts as kids growing up, and it made them stronger, he said
I beg to differ.
(PS: Isn’t “Ash” a great name for two albinos?)
Gonna bitch about “pink eye” next?
Guess what? My father’s name was “Earl” and he was an asshole. What if just seeing his name hurts my feelings? Should the restaurant change their name?
These guys apparently run a charity to help albinos in Africa, who have real problems (i.e., getting murdered by their superstitious, backwards fellow tribesmen.) You’d think they’d focus their energies on that.
Tell Earl’s to stand firm.
