Who doesn’t turn to Maclean’s back page first? I’ve complained about their “The End” long form obit before, but mostly look forward to them, as, I suspect, most of their subscribers do.
I was less than delighted, however, by the Feb 27 iteration (not online yet.)
It’s about one of the migrant workers killed in that horrific crash on February 6.
We’re told that “their driver missed a stop sign and the van was T-boned by a flatbed truck.”
The boring innocent white Canadian citizen driving the truck doesn’t merit a “The End” column.
The migrant worker does, because by “a miraculous coincidence,” he’d escaped death earlier in life when he slept in and missed a doomed flight.
His “narrative” is “better,” you see.
